1. Comparison of material characteristics
Material Science: UHMWPE, Advantages: excellent wear resistance (better than steel), self-lubricating, impact resistance, disadvantages: limited temperature resistance (≤ 80 ºC), high coefficient of thermal expansion, suitable for high wear, heavy load, humid or dusty environments
1. Comparison of material characteristics
Material: Nylon, advantages: high strength, fatigue resistance, can be modified with fillers, disadvantages: dimensional changes after moisture absorption, high friction coefficient (lubrication required), applicable scenarios: medium load, impact resistant occasions
1. Comparison of material characteristics
Material Science: POM, Advantages: high rigidity, low friction, stable size, fatigue resistance. Disadvantages: not resistant to strong acids/alkalis, easily decomposed at high temperatures (releasing formaldehyde). Applicable scenarios: precision transmission, low noise, dry environment
Key design considerations
Wear resistance: UHMWPE and POM perform the best, especially suitable for high-speed or heavy-duty chains (such as conveyor lines, forklift rails).
Lubrication requirements: Nylon and POM are self-lubricating, but long-term use may require external lubrication (such as food grade grease).
Temperature range:
Short term temperature resistance: POM (100 ºC)>Nylon (90 ºC)>UHMWPE (80 ºC)>PE (60 ºC).
Low temperature performance: UHMWPE and PE maintain toughness at -40 ºC.
Chemical environment: PE/UHMWPE is acid and alkali resistant, POM and nylon are sensitive to oxidants.
Installation method: Consider thermal expansion (UHMWPE requires clearance) or use metal inserts (nylon/POM).
