Product Description

UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene), nylon (PA), and POM (polyoxymethylene), as high-performance engineering plastics, have the following common advantages:

1. Excellent mechanical performance
High strength and wear resistance: All three have high tensile strength and wear resistance, especially suitable for applications that can withstand friction and dynamic loads (such as gears, bearings, sliders, etc.).

Fatigue resistance: Mechanical components that are not easily broken under repeated stress and are suitable for long-term use.

2. Self lubrication and low friction coefficient
Smooth surface, low friction coefficient, can reduce wear of moving parts (such as UHMWPE with a friction coefficient close to ice, POM and nylon also perform well), and can replace metal or lubricating oil in some scenarios.

3. Chemical stability
Resistant to common solvents, oils, and weak acids and bases, including:

UHMWPE: Strong acid and alkali resistance, especially suitable for chemical environments.

POM: Good stability to organic solvents, but weak resistance to strong acidity and alkalinity.

Nylon: It has outstanding oil resistance, but is prone to water absorption, which affects its performance.

4. Lightweight
The density is much lower than that of metals (such as UHMWPE with a density of 0.93-0.94 g/cm ³), making it suitable for applications that require weight reduction (such as automotive components and sports equipment).
5. Processing adaptability
It can be formed through conventional plastic processing methods such as injection molding and extrusion, among which nylon and POM have higher processing temperatures, and UHMWPE requires special processes (such as sintering and pressing).
6. Electrical insulation
All of them have excellent electrical insulation performance and are suitable for electrical components such as insulation sleeves, cable sheaths, etc.

Supplementary characteristics (differences) for each individual
UHMWPE: The impact resistance is optimal (especially at low temperatures), but the temperature resistance is poor (usually ≤ 80 ° C).

Nylon: It has high water absorption, but its temperature resistance can be improved (up to 150 ° C) by modification (such as PA66 reinforcement).

POM: The rigidity is optimal and the dimensional stability is good, but it is prone to decomposition at high temperatures.

Nylon: automotive oil pan, gears, ropes.

POM: Precision gears, valve components, zippers.
